Blue Onboard™ and Velvet Officially Launch Innovative New On-Bus Marketing Solution

Following a successful 9 month trial with Velvet, Blue Onboard’s innovative new on-bus mobile marketing and advertising solution was officially launched in front of a selected audience in Eastleigh, Hampshire – home of both companies.

The Blue Onboard solution, installed on the entire fleet of Velvet buses, allows highly targeted, effective and measurable advertising and marketing campaigns to be sent to passengers’ mobile phones whilst they are travelling.

Blue Onboard™ Installed On New £9 Million Park & Ride

Buses on the brand new Enderby Park and Ride scheme in Leicester have been fitted with the Blue Onboard™ system. As well as being able to receive targeted messages, campaigns and promotions via Bluetooth®, passengers will be able to access the Internet via the Blue Onboard™ Wi-Fi™ hotspot on the bus using their mobile phones, PDAs and laptops. The system takes advantage of 3G mobile broadband connectivity available along the entire route.

Passengers will also be able to connect to a local on-board Web server using Wi-Fi™ which can give free, high-speed access to local content such as service information, local and visitor guides, timetable downloads and other rich content including audio and video streaming if so desired.

Velvet Bus Company Launches Blue Onboard™ Trial

Blue Onboard™ has partnered with the bus company to run trials of its innovative new advertising and promotion medium utilising Bluetooth® and location-based technologies. Brands and local companies with a compelling message or offer are encouraged to sign up for free advertising opportunities during the trial.
